Paige Carter-Smith

Paige Carter-Smith, a native Floridian, possesses a wealth of knowledge of the intricacies of government and politics in the sunshine state. As a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Atlanta with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science, Ms. Carter-Smith returned to Florida and immediately became involved in the political process. Ms. Carter-Smith lobbied the Florida Legislature on behalf of Larry J. Overton & Associates and then went on to serve as a government consultant for Cobb Cole & Bell. Some of her corporate clients included McDonalds, Coca Cola, Universal Studios, Golden Rule Insurance and Volusia County Board of County Commissioners. As a government consultant, Ms. Carter–Smith represented clients before the Florida Legislature, the Florida Cabinet, and state agencies on issues ranging from regulatory reform to land acquisition.

In 1997, Ms. Carter-Smith was named Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Tallahassee, Florida’s capital city. In her role as Chief-of-Staff, she developed and directed policy and was charged with the intergovernmental activities of the City of Tallahassee. In that capacity Ms. Carter-Smith worked with the Florida delegation to obtain millions of federal dollars for the City of Tallahassee and Leon County. In 2003, Ms. Carter-Smith was selected to be the Executive Director of the Florida Democratic Party where she often interacted with Democratic Senators and Members of Congress.

An active member of her community, Ms. Carter-Smith was also a founding member of the Capital Area New Democrats and Women of the Hill, a former member of the Junior League of Tallahassee, Apalachee Bend Girl Scouts and a youth leader for Faith Presbyterian Church. She has been active in the Capital City Tiger Bay Club, Florida League of Cities, Tallahassee Tourist Development Council, and served as Chairperson of the Leon County Democratic Executive Committee.
